The Anthonij Rupert estate was founded by Johann Rupert in 2003. The farm L’Ormarins in Franschhoek was originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert, who passed away in 2001. Johann Rupert decided to let his brother’s name live on when he built a state-of-the-art winemaking facility, which launched the farm and reaps the fruits of its labour. Today it is a world-famous wine estate, and some may even say the beating heart of South Africa’s wine reputation.
On the left-hand side as you enter the estate proudly stands the Terra del Capo tasting room. This venue was designed to showcase the establishment’s Italian inspired range. The grandeur tasting room welcomes you to enjoy a tasting experience or browse the bistro, so you can create your very own Italian inspired feast at home.
The Terra del Capo deli has reopened for visitors over weekends which now allows you to purchase their retail items such as the décor goods, olive oils, charcuterie, pastas etc, but unfortunately no wine at this time. Online wine sales are still available with deliveries taking place once restrictions are lifted again. Sit down meals are not available at this time nor are you able to purchase any hot or prepared food from the bistro. You can visit the deli between from Friday – Sundays between 10:00 and 17:00. I encourage you to follow Anthonij Rupert Wyne on Instagram for all of the latest updates.
